Take the Time to Make Things Fascinating

Sally Hogshead believes the greatest value you can add is to become more of yourself.

One of our bureau partners, Brian Lord with Premiere Speakers, kept Sally’s “fascinating” principles in mind when he wrote this blog post: “A Little Known Robin Williams Story.”  Brian was kind enough to share with Sally the amazing response he received:

“Hi, Sally,

 I thought I’d share a cool story with you.  I know how you’ve written that you can be a nonprofit leader and write something that’s very ‘worthy’, but if it’s not fascinating, there’s a good chance no one will read it.

I was writing a quick blog on Tuesday morning and mainly just got the facts in during the first go round.  Then I took an extra couple of minutes to try to make the title and the first and last sentences more ‘fascinating’.  I posted it hoping for 100 hits.

48 hours and 5 site crashes later, and the post (http://bit.ly/RobinWill) has 230,000 hits and counting, and was basically reprinted in Huffington Post UK and Travelife Magazine in Singapore.   It helps to have a fascinating subject in Robin Williams, and a cool thing about him almost no one knew, but the method was important, too.
